Gunman who shot Spanish Right-wing politician in face may be linked to Iranian regime

Police believe the shooting of Alejo Vidal-Quadras, 78, may have been an attempted assassination on the orders of Tehran

Alejo Vidal-Quadras, 78, a former leader of the conservative Popular Party (PP) in Catalonia, suffered a bullet wound to the jaw and was said to be in a “serious but stable condition” on Thursday night.

Police believe the shooting may have been an attempted assassination on the orders of Tehran owing to Mr Vidal-Quadras’s links to an opposition group forged during his time as an MEP.
