A woman shopping at a supermarket in a shopping center in Zhenjiang city, Jiangsu province, China, was unexpectedly swallowed by a sinkhole on March 23. The incident trapped the woman and a construction worker below. Firefighters promptly arrived, rescuing both individuals with minor injuries, now in stable condition. The shopping center’s manager, Mr. Huang, attributed the collapse to damage on the ground floor’s load-bearing wall during construction. An investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause and necessary actions.
