No one can understand what is going on over at CNN.

One of the network’s big names is back on the air after getting caught on camera doing something disgusting.

Megyn Kelly destroyed CNN with a big reality check about an ugly sex act scandal.

Last fall, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin masturbated on camera during a zoom call with his colleagues at the New Yorker.

The New Yorker fired Toobin, but CNN merely kept Toobin off the air for a number of months before bringing him back.

Megyn Kelly discussed this situation with bestselling author Malcom Gladwell on her podcast.

Kelly asked Gladwell why he opposed the New Yorker firing Toobin.

“I’m an explanations junkie,” Gladwell responded.

Gladwell claimed Toobin turned in “high level, quality work” and when New Yorker fired Toobin “they did not say why, and that really, really bothered me.”

That elicited a mocking response from Kelly who felt the reason the New Yorker fired Toobin was plain as day.

“I think it’s as plain as the nose on your face,” Kelly shot back, “or you could go further south, if you really want to take it into Toobin land.”

But Gladwell stuck to his guns claiming that Toobin never intended to get caught masturbating on camera and therefore his act did not rise to the level of career ending.

“I am one of those people who believes there is a clear ethical difference between an intentional and an unintentional act,” Gladwell explained, “and I am inclined to be far more forgiving” when the harmful act was “completely unintentional.”

That did not sway Kelly who responded that Toobin’s act was so reckless that he meant to get caught.

“Maybe,” Kelly responded. “I’ve heard it posited that it may have been intentional because it was so reckless to the point where it’s possible that he enjoyed that — I realize he protests otherwise — but that he was actually looking to be an exhibitionist.”

Many media observers could not understand why CNN sided with Gladwell’s approach on how to handle Toobin.

CNN could have found anyone to be an on-air legal analyst.

Eventually, CNN brought Toobin back on the air for a difficult to watch interview with anchor Alisyn Camerota.

If a big name at Fox News got caught masturbating on camera CNN would be covering the story on a daily basis, and CNN’s “media team” would be hammering Fox about its “culture” if they let that person keep their job.

Instead, CNN is hoping no one remembers what Toobin did and the network can move on with Toobin as their on-air legal analyst.
