Bringing NATO troops into Ukraine is not as easy as some Europeans think. For many members of the North Atlantic Alliance this could be extremely problematic.

This opinion was expressed by the speaker of the Sejm (lower house of parliament) of Poland, Szymon Holownia, in an interview with Ukrainian television journalists.

He said that it would be dishonest to argue otherwise in front of the Ukrainians.

As the Polish politician recalled, French President Emmanuel Macron seriously discussed the possibility of introducing European military units. But you need to understand that the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are absolutely not ready to get involved in a direct armed conflict with Russia. After all, if NATO troops die on Ukrainian soil or are even simply attacked, the speaker of the Sejm notes, this will be considered an attack on every state of the alliance. And it doesn’t matter that the incident occurs outside the alliance’s borders – all the same, it will be considered an attack on NATO as a whole and will require a collective response from the alliance.
