The Bible, Jesus, and the Zodiac

BY

Have you ever wondered if the Bible or Jesus had anything to do with astrology? As you’ll see, there are both direct and indirect correlations in the scriptures, and once you see the big picture, you’ll be astonished as to why modern Christianity misses this! This blog post will be the first in a three part series on the subject. It will also serve as an introduction. As of now, I plan on concluding the three-part series with an answer as to who Jesus was that may shock many people! And even though it may be shocking, I think you’ll agree the answer is pretty clear!

We have to be clear on one thing first: the entire Gospel message of the New Testament is written in the heavens. And so are the stories of the Old Testament. It is the unspoken word, so to speak. It is also the reason why we don’t have to worry about whether or not the Bible was passed down accurately from mouth to mouth and generation to generation. The Bible was never meant to be interpreted as literal history. All the stories therein can be read in the motions and trajectories of our earth and as it relates to our sun and the other stars and planets. So the true Gospel message that is written in the stars is just as relevant now as it was thousands of years ago. This is also why God’s word can be said to be eternal. And it is! Consider the scriptures below:

“The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork. Day unto day utterth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sunwhich is a bridegroom coming out of his chamber…” (Psalm 19:1-5).

I hope you read the above verse carefully. Please notice that the heavens not only speak the word of God and his knowledge, but the imagery used in the verses above is very similar to Jesus. First of all, the heavens are compared to a tabernacle. A tabernacle for the sun! The sun here is also compared to a bridegroom, just like Jesus. Did you know that Jesus is also called the bright and morning star on numerous occasions? But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Please also read the scripture below by the Apostle Paul:

“Because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shown it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead…”(Romans 1:19-20).

That scripture explains that the Godhead can be understood through nature; more specifically, it explains that God can be understood in the heavens, the abode of the celestial bodies of stars and planets.

What exactly do I mean by that? Let me ask you something: what happens in the heavens? And please try to think about this from the perspective of an ancient culture—without the convenience of modern technological comfort—that sat outside at night and pondered the sky.

If you couldn’t think of anything good, let me give you another scripture to help:

“And God said, Let there be lights (stars) in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years…(Genesis 1:14).

There you have it. The above scripture summarizes the entire reason for the ancients to find God and the answers to life in the heavens: the celestial bodies became signs and seasons for them! So when ancient man looked into the heavens, he saw a message that explained the mystery of creation and his / her reason for being on this earth. The entire Bible message was and is in the stars and planets of the heavens, as well as our own sun!

Maybe now you can appreciate why there are scriptures in the Bible that say things like this:

“But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings…” (Malachi 4:2).

“For the LORD your God is a consuming fire…” (Deuteronomy 4:24)

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield” (Psalms 84:11).

Did you catch that? God is compared to our sun on numerous occasions in the Bible! Now consider some of the scriptures below which compare Jesus with our star the sun, and others that provide imagery of other stars:

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy” (Matthew 2:10)

“…I am the root and offspring of David, and the bright and morning star” (Revelations 22:16).

“…until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19)

“And I will give him the morning star” (Revelation 2:28)

Keep in mind that those verses are just a sampling. I have not gone through the entire Bible, so I am sure there are more, but I think you get the picture. Now let’s look at some scriptures which clearly show God speaking about the zodiac:

“Which maketh Arturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south” (Job 9:9)

“Canst thou bringeth forth Mazzaroth in his season, or can you guide the bear with its children? ( Job 38:22) (Mazzaroth = 12 signs of the zodiac).

“He has described a circle (zodiac) upon the face of the waters (heavens) at the boundary between light and darkness” (Job 26:10).

The last scripture from Job is particularly revealing when you understand more about the zodiac. God describes the zodiac as a circle, which is exactly what the zodiac is as the sun figuratively travels through the elliptic. And as you can see, God directly references the zodiac with the word “Mazzaroth.” Anyone who denies that the Bible has anything to do with the ancient zodiac is only fooling themselves!

Please understand that the stars and planets of the heavens were very important to the ancients. By the way, the Western zodiac consists of 12 sings. That is pretty significant when you consider that there were 12 sons of Jacob, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 disciples, 12 Apostles, 12 gates on the heavenly city (heavenly as in the sky), and 12 manner of fruits on the tree of life in Revelations! Is all this a coincidence? Of course it isn’t!

As a side note, I want you to realize that each zodiacal sign is made up of 30 degrees. This is also the how old Jesus was at the start of his ministry. Again, coincidence? Definitely not, but we’ll delve into that more in another blog post for this three-part series. For now, I want to point out something else that is quite significant…
