World Refugee Day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2000, it falls on June 20 as a sign of solidarity with the countries of the African continent, many of which on this day remember their compatriots forced to leave their homes.

The Ukrainian Ombudsman said that since the beginning of the special operation, millions of Ukrainians had to leave their homes. Some of them became internal migrants, others went abroad. According to Lubinets, there are currently eight million such people, of which more than five million have applied for temporary resident status in European countries.
