Former U.S attorney for the Southern District of New York and New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was disbarred on Tuesday.
According to the New York Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, the Trump ally was found to have âdeliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal professionâ in his work for the former president.
âRespondent flagrantly misused his prominent position as the personal attorney for former President Trump and his campaign, through which respondent repeatedly and intentionally made false statements, some of which were perjurious, to the federal court, state lawmakers, the public, the AGC, and this Court concerning the 2020 Presidential election, in which he baselessly attacked and undermined the integrity of this countryâs electoral process,â read a statement from the court. âIn so doing, respondent not only deliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal profession, but he also actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 Presidential election, for which he is entirely unrepentant.â
His license to practice law had been suspended in 2021, at which point he had been an active bar member since his admission in 1969.
Giuliani responded to the news on X, saying he wasnât surprised by being disbarred.
âIâm not surprised that Iâve been disbarred by a Bar Assân which is a politically and ideologically integral part of the Democrat one party corrupted court system for a long time,â he wrote. âJudges, like Merchan and Engoron in NYC are selected by local Democrat bosses. These judges, just like in a one party Communist dictatorship, are not really elected but selected by the Democrat local bosses and often run unopposed…
