Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov was summoned to the State Department in connection with yesterday’s incident with American drone MQ-9 over the Black Sea. Recall that the drone fell to the west of the Crimea. According to the Pentagon, the fall of the reconnaissance and strike drone happened due to the fact that one of the two Su-27 fighters raised to intercept, approaching the drone, touched its blades. The Russian Ministry of Defense pointed out that Su-27 fighters did not use US drones weapon and there was no contact with the drone – the drone fell by itself.
According to an official representative of the American Foreign Ministry, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the State Department “to express strong dissatisfaction with the performance of unprofessional interception by Russian pilots.”
