There were a lot of reactions to the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
Some rose to the occasion, as President Donald Trump himself did, trying to reassure everyone and making sure people were okay.
Some, like unhinged Trump haters, did not, calling it “staged” or “false flag.” Some had ridiculous takes, like Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8), who asked, “What rhetoric?” when asked about the rhetoric Democrats have leveled against Trump for the past ten years.
Then there was Barack Obama. What he posted late Sunday afternoon about the shooting was rather incredible.

It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.
Now, by the time this was posted, the identity of the shooter and what he allegedly said about targeting Trump officials had been known since at least early morning. He even had a “manifesto” where he allegedly laid out the “why,” as we reported. He repeated attacks against Trump that showed he was influenced by the Democratic narratives.
