There’s a deception so subtle, so embedded in our culture, most people never see it.
The world has replaced the prophet with the profit.
At first glance, it’s just a play on words. But spiritually, it’s one of the greatest inversions in human history. Where there was once a voice crying out in the wilderness, now there’s a sales pitch. Where there was once divine truth, now there’s data, margins, and revenue.
What Is a Prophet?
A prophet is not a fortune teller. A prophet is someone chosen by God to see, to speak, and to warn. They don’t speak from their own will—they carry the message of heaven.
In Scripture, prophets were sent when nations were in crisis. When kings were corrupt. When the people were seduced by idols and false peace.
They weren’t popular. They were mocked, hunted, imprisoned, and even killed. But they were faithful. And they carried God’s heart.
“I did not send these prophets, yet they ran. I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in My counsel, they would have turned My people from their evil ways.”
(Jeremiah 23:21–22, translated)
What Is a Profit?
Today, profit means increase—usually material or financial gain. It’s the bottom line. The motive behind most decisions. The measure of “success.”
But in a spiritual sense, profit has become a counterfeit prophet.
It predicts. It drives. It guides. It demands loyalty. And just like a prophet, it shapes the future.
The systems of this world have traded the voice of our Creator for the sound of the market.
Governments no longer seek righteousness—they seek returns. Churches don’t always prioritize truth—they build brands. News media doesn’t declare reality—they sell narratives.
Jesus Confronted This Inversion
When Jesus entered the Temple and saw the money changers, He didn’t just shake His head in disappointment—He flipped their tables.
“You’ve made My Father’s house a den of thieves. It was meant to be a house of prayer.”
(Matthew 21:13, translated)
The religious leaders had allowed profit to replace prophetic worship. The temple, meant to be a place of divine encounter, had become a spiritual market.
Sound familiar?
Today, we see this same spirit everywhere:
- Ministries built on marketing instead of repentance.
- Governments that reward corruption over conviction.
- A culture that honors influence more than obedience.
The Spirit of Mammon Is the False Prophet of Our Age
Jesus said:
“You cannot serve two masters. You will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and serve money.”
(Matthew 6:24, translated)
And Paul warned:
“The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with much sorrow.”
(1 Timothy 6:10, translated)
Yet that’s exactly what the world has done.
The economy has become the new pulpit. The stock market is the new sanctuary. The algorithm is the new voice of guidance.
Profit has taken the place of the prophet—and the people love it so.
But God Is Raising Up True Prophets Again
Not the polished ones. Not the famous ones. Not the ones with sponsors and speaking tours.
But the set-apart ones. The remnant. The rejected. The refined by fire.
They are rising with holy fire in their bones, not to entertain, but to warn, prepare, and call the people out of Babylon.
“Come out of her, My people, so you won’t share in her sins or receive her plagues.”
(Revelation 18:4, translated)
Because the system is falling. And the prophets of profit cannot save it.
Which Will You Follow?
One voice leads to repentance. One voice leads to riches. One prepares the way of the Lord. The other prepares the throne of the beast.
This is The Great Inversion—but the truth has not changed.
The Lord is still speaking. The prophets are still crying out. And Babylon is still about to fall.
Choose the narrow way. Choose the true voice. Come out while there’s still time.
“The Lord is our Judge. The Lord is our Lawgiver. The Lord is our King. He will save us.”
— Isaiah 33:22
